Brianne Stanback is an Instructor and Internship Program Director in the School of Aging Studies. Her undergraduate work was completed at Clemson University in English and History. She earned a master’s degree in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences with a graduate minor in Gerontology from the University of Florida. During her time as a doctoral student in the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida, she was awarded the 2008 Provost’s Commendation for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant, the 2009 Provost’s Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant and the 2009 Sue V. Saxon Outstanding Teaching Award in the School of Aging Studies.
Standback's research interests fall into the larger category of aging in special/ vulnerable populations. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate in the School of Aging Studies, finishing a dissertation on older offenders in U.S. jails. She has presented research on late life first-time offenders and older offenders with mental health problems at the annual meetings of American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and the Gerontological Society of America. She often includes undergraduates in her research projects and enjoys working with her students in the classroom and beyond.
